Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3:1

Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty turned the match

Real Madrid ended Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the La Liga season with an emphatic 3-1 victory at the Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season on Saturday.

Luis Suarez started his first competitive game for the Catalan club after completing a four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup but was powerless to stop a frequently rampant Real Madrid side. He immediately showed what offensive bite he could offer his new employers when just three minutes later into his Barcelona career he provided the pass that enabled Neymar to give them the lead. However, Cristiano Ronaldos’s penalty turned the match and eighty-seven minutes later, though, Suarez watched from the bench as the final whistle was greeted by a roar for the victory of Real Madrid.
