President Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolences to the Orbelians on the occasion of the great musician of our time, the People’s Artist of the USSR and Armenia, the bearer of the Orders of Honor and St. Mesrop Mashtots Konstantin Orbelian’s demise, President’s Press Office reported.
“Maestro Orbelian greatly contributed to the promotion and popularization of the contemporary Armenian music. He directed the Armenian State Variety Orchestra for 36 years and gave it a new life and vigor. His songs have always been loved by listeners and have become our people’s favorites.
The creative works of Konstantin Orbelian will always remain in the pages of the Armenian music history and in the memory of generations.
I extend my deepest condolences to you and share your grief,” reads the RA President’s telegram of condolences.
