Armenia will only benefit from the successful completion of the negotiations on the Armenia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, Head of the European Commission’s Directorate General of Trade for Europe and Central Asia Luc Pierre Devigne told a press conference today.

According to the European chief negotiator, the negotiations are proceeding successfully, which inspires hope that the talks can be competed this year.

At a briefing with journalists Luc Pierre Devigne pointed to the issues, which create difficulties during the talks.

“We should place a special emphasis on issues of intellectual property rights, as well as on some issues of liberalization of trade between Armenia and the European Union,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Economy Gergin Melkonyan said the document on the table is very inclusive and consists of several hundreds of pages. The Deputy Minister expects positive moves in the coming one or two years. Before that, Armenia is working to improve legislature.
