U.S. Embassy hosts Harvard Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

The U.S. Embassy, in partnership with the Children of Armenia Fund, is pleased to announce a soccer diplomacy visit from author, journalist and soccer enthusiast Andrea Montalbano December 4-10. Her itinerary includes a master class with the Armenian national women’s team, field training with young female soccer players and public presentations. The purpose of her visit is to encourage girls and their parents to enjoy the game of football and embrace all the benefits that come with the world’s most popular sport.

Ms. Montalbano grew up on a soccer field in Miami. She continued to play through college, acting as captain for her Harvard University soccer team and eventually being inducted into the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame.

About her trip, she said the following: “Girls can and should play football. As a player, coach, author and mother, I am honored and excited to share my stories and skills to support the girls of Armenia.  The physical and mental health benefits are countless, but the path is simple.  All it takes is a ball, and the opportunity.  I’m hoping to bring both.”
