Visa-free entry for Armenians to enhance relations with Serbia – President

Armenian citizens’ visa-free entry to Serbia and the decision to open an Embassy in Yerevan are important steps towards enhancing bilateral cooperation, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian said at a joint press conference with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić.

Speaking about people-to-people contacts, the President said Armenians will never forget the invaluable  support of the fraternal Serbian people after the devastating earthquake of 1988.

President Sarkissian stressed that the Armenian and Serbian peoples have centuries-old historic and cultural ties, based on a common vision.

“The political dialogue between Armenia and Serbia opens up new avenues for cooperation in agriculture, food industry, high technology and innovation, mining and many more. We must work to turn new initiatives into reality,” he added.

Speaking of economic cooperation, the President highlighted the opportunities provided by the EAEU.

“We are hopeful that on October 25 this year the EAEU and Serbia will sign a free trade agreement. I am glad that this will happen under Armenian presidency of of EAEU,” he said.
