Alexander Iskandaryan: Opening of the Abkhazian railway impossible at this point

There are no perspectives for the opening of the Abkhazian railway, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan told a press conference today. According to him, there are so many problems in the sphere that the opening of the railway is impossible at least in the foreseeable future.

The Armenian-Russian link through the Abkhazian railway is impossible today, Alexander Iskandaryan said, refraining from any predictions. His confidence is based on the analysis of the current situation and political processes. . “Technically, it is nearly impossible. There are thousands of problems,” he added.

Refereeing to Armenia’s foreign policy, Alexander Iskandaryan said that it fully suits the logic of complementary policy. “Armenia is a member of the CIS and aspires to join the Customs Union, at the same time Europe is our best partner. Armenia has built interesting and deep relations with the United States and has maintained good relations with Georgia.”
