Armenian Patriarchate to offer Repose of Souls Service for Turkey mine blast victims

The Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul has declared that on May 18 a Repose of Souls Service will be offered for the victims of the victims of the mine blast in Soma, Ermenihaber reports quoting CNN Turk.

The Patriarchate has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to all victims.

Turkey’s worst ever mine disaster has claimed about 300 lives. An explosion caused the pit to collapse on Tuesday, while more than 700 miners were underground.

Government officials said 363 miners were rescued in the hours after the explosion, but no survivors have been brought out since dawn on Wednesday. Around 150 miners remain missing.

Turkey holds a three-day mourning for the victims.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan earlier offered condolences to President Abdullah Gul of Turkey.
