Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan has announced his resignation.
“I believe that in the current situation and in the context of the future this decision is the most desirable and well-founded option to serve the Republic of Armenia and my people,” Vanetyan said.
“I made this decision as confidently as the one when I agreed to assume the post of the Director of the National Security Service at a crucial stage for our country. My activity for one and a half year has always been in front of all of you, and I have taken every single step committed to the principles that homeland and the honor of the officer are above everything,” he added.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier today that the decree on dismissing the National Security Service chief would be signed in two or three days.
