Iran attack a global challenge that requires cooperative effort – Armenian Deputy FM

The attack on Iran parlaiment and shrine is condemnable,  Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan says.

“The fact is that it’s a common challenge and requires global cooperation, especially between the superpowers,” Kocharyan told reporters today.

“The contradictions that exist today will remain, but we need to realize that it’s a global challenge that affects all countries and all peoples,” he added.

As for Armenian government’s decision to lift visa requirement for citizens of Qatar, Kocharyan said “it’s meant to boost development of tourism.”

“Qatar is just one of the countries, Armenia plans to liberalize visa regime with another six countries in the near future,” he said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the decision of several states to severe ties with Qatar is a different issue. “It’s connected with the situation in the Middle East, the trends existing in Saudi Arabia, as well as the fact that sunni Qatar refuses to join the anti-Iranian coalition. There can be various reasons, but the issue is on a different level,” he said.
