Hammer Museum to screen “Without Gorky” to mark Armenian Genocide centennial

Massis Post
– In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Hammer Museum has dedicated 2015 to an exploration of multiple facets of Armenian culture, history, and landscape through film in a series called “I Am Armenian”.

Next in the series is the screening of “Without Gorky” on June 23rd. “Without Gorky” explores the artistic and personal legacy of artist Arshile Gorky (1904–1948) through interviews with family members, archival photographs, and the artist’s own work. A discussion with Kim S. Theriault, author of Rethinking Arshile Gorky, and filmmaker Carla Garapedian follows the screening.

All Hammer public programs are free and made possible by a major gift from the Dream Fund at UCLA.
