Three Books about Armenian Genocide to be launched in Europe

Mr. Eduardo Eurnekian, Chairman of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, has announced the imminent launching of three new books dealing with the slaughter of Armenians which unfolded 100 years ago.

Two of the books are in Italian. The third one, in German.

Next April 21st, Mr. Gabriele Nissim, renown author and journalist and President of GARIWO, will present his book “La Lettera a Hitler”, which presents the awe-inspiring story of Armin T. Wegner, a hero for both the Armenian and Jewish people. As a German soldier stationed in the Ottoman Empire in WWI, Wegner documented and denounced the atrocities perpetrated against the Armenians. Decades later, in 1933, he wrote a letter to Adolf Hitler, repudiating the Nazi treatment of Jews. As a result, he was sent to a concentration camp, ending-up heavily tortured. For his bravery, he was recognized as Righteous among the Nations by Israel and his ashes are buried in Armenia, where he is considered one of its foremost heroes.

Mr. Jesus Colina, vice-president of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation will represent this NGO at the presentation.

The other book in Italian is by Ms. Franca Giansoldatti, a reputed Italian author and journalist. The book is entitled “La Marcia Sensa Ritorno” (The March with return) and deals with the plight of the Armenian people.

The book in German, “Volkermord and der Armenien” (the Armenian Genocide) was written by Mr. Michael Hesseman, a German investigative journalist and writer. The book presents hitherto unpublished documents about the Genocide and the efforts of the Vatican diplomacy to thwart it.

Chairman Eurnekian underscored the importance of these books, and praised Pope Francis statement of solidarity with the Armenian people in the Mass of last April 12th, 2015
