Man charged with slaying family in Gyumri detained

The Russian serviceman charged with the brutal murder in Armenia’s second largest city was detained Wednesday evening, Tert.am reports.

The precautionary measure against Valery Permyakov was selected based on the Russia’s legislation and criminal procedures which require that a crime suspect be detained within 48 hours after being indicted.

Permyakov is facing charges under Article 105.2 and 338.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (murders and desertion). He served in Russian Defense Ministry’s 102nd military base stationed in Gyumri.

The decision to detain the serviceman was made by a Russian garrison judge responsible for investigating criminal cases related to the military in Armenia.
