Armenian FM participtes in the session of CIS Foreign Ministers Council

On October 9 Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian participated in the Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Minsk.

The agenda of the Council comprised approximately twenty topics, including questions on documents to be discussed at the CIS Summit on October 10, and the multilateral cooperation being realized within the format of the CIS.

Foreign Ministers of the CIS countries approved the draft Address of CIS leaders on the 70th anniversary of Great Patriotic War, in which the Leaders call on the entire world and peoples to decisively counter the heroization of the Nazi movement, revival of fascist ideology, spread of hatred and racism, attempts to equalize victims and murderers.

The cooperation within the framework of the CIS in humanitarian sphere for 2015-2016 to be realized within CIS was discussed in the Ministerial Council by which around 200 events are scheduled to be organized in the fields of culture, education, science, information, publication.

Participants made a decision to give the Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts the status of a CIS base institution in the field of protection and recovery of written heritage.

Participants of the Session adopted the CIS participating states’ 2015-2019 Cooperation Plan on the counteraction to illegal migration. The ministers touched upon the issues on protection of the external borders of the participating states, cooperation in the fields of illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking, cooperation between the law enforcement authorities.

The Foreign Ministers discussed the implementation process of the concept of further development of the CIS.

The Ministers decided to hold the next CIS Foreign Minister Council Session in April 2015, in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic.
