Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks started a 5-day visit to Armenian Sunday.
The Commissioner said in a Facebook post he will be meeting Ministers, Parliamentarians, judicial authorities, national human rights structures and representatives of NGOs active in the field.
On Thursday he will issue a press release with the preliminary findings of the visit.
On the first day of the visit Nils Muiznieks held several meetings with NGOs to discuss human rights in the justice system and in the army, as well as women’s rights and gender equality issues.
He also met judges and defense lawyers to discuss issues pertaining to the functioning of the judiciary.
