Armenian President, Georgian PM discuss bilateral economic relations

Within the framework of the official visit to Georgia, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the Armenian-Georgian relations, particularly the economic component. They expressed confidence that it will be possible to expand the framework of mutually beneficial cooperation in different spheres.

Serzh Sargsyan and Irakli Gharibashvili hailed the achievements towards development of trade relations, which have created a good basis for moving it to a higher level. President Sargsyan voiced confidence that the sitting of the Armenian-Georgian Inter-Governmental Commission on Economic Cooperation will give an impetus and will help make the growth of commodity turnover more systematized.

A number of documents targeted at the development of Armenian-Georgian cooperation were signed at the end of the meeting. The documents include: the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism between the government of the Republic of Armenia and the government of Georgia and the Agreement on Exchange of Secret Information and Mutual Defense between the government of the Republic of Armenia and the government of Georgia.

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan also visited Tbilisi’s Heroes Square and laid a wreath at the memorial. On his visit, the Armenian President was hosted at Armenian Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi and at Hayartun Cultural Educational and Youth Center of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
