Protesters turn down ex-PM’s invitation for dialogue

Members of a civil movement campaigning against the pension reform staged a protest in Yerevan today, urging the State Revenue Committee to comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Armenia by making corresponding changes in its electronic accounting system, enabling employers not to make contributions on behalf of their employees against the will of the latter.

The protesters held a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Finance, blocked the Nalbandyan Street and demanded a meeting with Acting Minister of Finance David Sargsyan.

The activists, however, turned down ex-Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s invitation for dialogue.

Members of the initiative plan to hold another rally in Yerevan on April 12 and call on the government to discuss the issues raised today at tomorrow’s cabinet meeting.
