Serzh Sargsyan: Prague an important target on Armenia’s European agenda

“Prague is an important target on the European agenda, which is one of our foreign policy priorities. It was here five years ago that Armenia assumed the commitment to develop deeper cooperation with the European Union, which we reiterated at the Vilnius Summit in November,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a joint press conference with the President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman.

“We are resolute to continue to develop and expand our relations with the European Union and anticipate comprehensive support from friendly countries, including the Czech Republic,” the President added.

On a visit to the Czech Republic, the Armenian President hailed that country’s constructive stance on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue. Referring to the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Vienna after a break of two years, Serzh Sargsyan said “the perspectives of resolution of the issue do not seem realistic, unless Azerbaijan refuses from the bellicose propaganda, arms race and the vicious policy of provocations at the Line of Contact.”

“It’s time for Azerbaijan to adopt a constructive policy towards the resolution of the issue exceptionally in a peaceful way. Here we expect unbiased support from the international community,” the President stated.

The Armenian President stressed he agrees with his Czech counterpart that regional conflicts should be solved exceptionally in a peaceful way through negotiations.
