Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan ranks 43rd in Goal.com‘s rating of top 50 players in the 2012/201 season. Lionel Messi tops the list, followed by Franck Ribery and Crisiano Ronaldo.
Henrik Mkhitaryan makes his Goal 50 debut after a stunning season – both individually and collectively – with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mkhitaryan was top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League as Shakhtar cruised to a fourth successive title and third consecutive league and cup double. His 29 goals in all competitions are more than any other midfielder in this year’s Goal 50, including Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale.
The 24-year-old’s direct running, clinical finishing and perfectly timed late runs into the box have seen him compared to Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Napoli’s Marek Hamsik.
“He more than proved his worth on the big stage in Shakhtar’s impressive Champions League campaign and it is no surprise that he has made the move to last year’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund. He will prove a worthy replacement for Mario Gotze.,” goal.com writes.
