Prince Charles visits Matenadaran

His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales arrived in Armenia today as a special guest of the “Yerevan, my Love” charity foundation.

At Zvartnots Airport the Prince was welcomed by the founder of the “Yerevan, my Love” charity program Armen Sargsyan.

Upon his arrival in Yerevan, Prince Charles headed for Matenadaran – the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts – where he familiarized himself with the most important items of the exceptional collections. Director of Matenadaran Hrachy Tamrazyan gifted Grigor Narekatsi’s “Book of Lamentations” to the Prince.

Armen Sargsyan presented the “Yerevan, my Love” program, which is similar to the British charity program of assistance to the archeological heritage of the Dumfries House, which the Prince of Wales  personally supports. Mr. Sargsyan said the Prince’s example encouraged him to work towards maintenance and reconstruction of historic sites in Yerevan.
