Valérie Boyer submits new genocide bill

Valérie Boyer, representative of the Bouches-du-Rhône Department and five other parliament members representing the Union for a Popular Movement party have proposed a new legal measure demanding the criminalization of the Armenian Genocide denial, Nouvelle d’Arménie reported.

The bill was drafted jointly with the Armenian lawyer, Philip Grigorian like the previous document.

It is anchored on the European Parliament’s Genocide and military crimes’ denial penalization clause.

The new measure threatens two years of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 Euros to anyone denying a crime of genocide.

The previous bill was approved by the Senate approval last year, but the French Constitutional Council ruled it unconstitutional.
