Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Let the team win, even if I score no single goal

Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is quite satisfied with the Miners’ win, but feels they could have inflicted even more damage on the Premier League side

Goals from Alex Teixeira and Fernandinho gifted the Ukrainian champions a 2-0 lead, before Oscar pegged one back in the closing stages of the game, and the Armenian was very pleased with his side’s victory.

“Everyone knows how strong Chelsea are. Fortunately, we got the early goal which is very important in a game against a side like this,” the attacking midfielder told Uefa.com.

“After that, it was a lot easier as we had much more space to counterattack. We had more chances to score in the first half but we weren’t lucky enough to do that.

“The Champions League is different from domestic competitions as we have to work much harder and be much more ruthless if we want to succeed.

“Our team are in very good form now but there is still a long way to go so we must go on the same way as tonight in this competition.”

“The victory of the team is the most important,” Mkhitaryan told terrikon.com. “Let the team win, even if I score no goals,” he added.
