Prosecutor General’s motion to strip ex-Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian of parliamentary immunity and involve him as a defendant in the Civilitas case seems strange to the lawyers of the Civilitas Foundation.

The lawyers say there is no legal ground and the accusation is absurd. They do not rule out, however, that the ex-Foreign Minister might be sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, lawyer Tigran Atanesyan said.

Representative of the Civilitas Foundation Arthur Grigoryan noted, in turn, that the Foundation will protest the decision of the National Security Service at the Court of Cassation. If the attempt fails, they will bring the case to the international court, he said.

Expert of international criminal law Nicolas Guyumjyan said “it is impossible to accuse one of money laundering without a complaint from the person, who has provided the money.”
