Seyran Ohanyan: We have a strong and democratic state defended by efficient Armed Forces
A solemn sitting dedicated to the 21st anniversary ofArmenia’s independence took place at the Ministry of Defense. In attendance were Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel General Yuri Khahaturov, high-ranking servicemen.
Congratulating the attendees on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of independence, Seyran Ohanyan noted that it was achieved thanks to the united will and efforts of all Armenians.
According to him, the proclamation of independence allowed to take timely practical steps to form regular armed forces.
“The Armenian armed forces managed to withstand a number of challenges to protect the independence of our Motherland. Today we have a strong and democratic state defended by efficient Armed Forces,” the Minister said.
Seyran Ohanyan added that “the Armenian Armed Forces not only protect the borders of the Republic of Armenia, but also successfully participate in international military exercises, a vivid example of which were the “Interaction-2012” joint manoeuvres of the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Forces.
Minister Ohanyan awarded medals to a number of servicemen and freedom fighters.
