Magnitude 5.6 quake hits Iran, felt in Armenia

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit 20 km northeast of the city of Salmas in Iran at 14:08 local time (10:08 GMT), the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations informs.

The quake was registered at the depth of 10 km. The intensity reached 8 at the epicenter.

The tremor was felt in Armenia’s Syunik and Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Armavir regions, as well as in capital Yerevan.
