Armenian FM reiterates relations with Turkey should be normalized without preconditions

The Armenian-Turkish relations should be normalized without any preconditions, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a press conference following the 29th sitting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of BSEC member states.

“The position of Armenia and the international community is clear: the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations should take place without preconditions. Therefore the attempts of the Turkish side to link this to other issues, to set preconditions is senseless and vain,” Edward Nalbandian said.

Some media reports suggested earlier that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was going to discuss the Karabakh issue in the context of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.

Will the Armenian and Turkish Foreign Ministers meet in Yerevan? “Meetings with the heads of participating delegations, including Turkey  are envisaged,” Minister Nalbandian said, without going into details about the content of the talks. “We’ll say what we have discussed after the meeting,” he said.
