Discussion on “Post-crisis peace-building” at the UN Security Council

Armenia’s Permanent Representative in the UN, Ambassador Karen Nazaryan presented a report during the discussions at the UN Security Council on “Post-crisis peace-building.” He noted, in part, that the dragging out of the settlement processes not only hampers regional cooperation, but also restricts the peace-building efforts and includes serious threats of resumption of war.

He added that the post-crisis period provides an opportunity to create bases for stable development in the region, for which it’s first of all necessary to demonstrate political will and resoluteness.

Ambassador Nazaryan noted also that the UN Security Council frequently refers to the issue, thus attaching importance to the implementation of peace-building processes and mechanisms, targeted at preventing the resumption of lasting conflicts and serve as guarantees for security and stability, peace and development.
