CEC sums up preliminary results of the presidential vote

The Central Electoral Commission convened an extraordinary sitting today to ratify the preliminary results of the presidential elections of February 18. According to early results, 60.18% of the total number of voters participated in the elections.

Incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan nominated by the Republican Party of Armenia received 861,378 votes or 58.64%. Leader of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan comes second with 36.75% of the votes, followed by Hrant Bagratyan (2.15%) and Paruyr Hayrikyan (1.23%). Andrias Ghukasyan and Vardan Sedrakyan received 0.57% and 0.42% respectively; 0.24% of the voters cast their ballot in favor of Arman Melikyan.

CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan assessed the process of the elections as normal.
