Azerbaijani border guards wound Georgian citizen

Georgian citizen Ramin Bashirov was shot in the head by Azerbaijani border guards near the David Gareji Monastery Complex at the shared border, according to Georgian media reports.

Mtavari Arkhi TV reported that the 26-year-old shepherd was shot after he crossed into the neutral territory to return his sheep.

The patient’s condition is satisfactory. Investigation has been launched through active involvement of Georgian and Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, quotes the Ministry of Interior as saying.

The Georgian Interior Ministry refrained from providing further details.

David Gareji Monastery Complex recently become subject to a border dispute between the two countries.
