Voter turnout in Armenia’s parliamentary elections surpassed one-third of eligible voters by 2:00 p.m., according to figures released by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
The highest participation rates were recorded in the southern province of Syunik and the northeastern province of Tavush, while turnout in the capital, Yerevan, stood at 33.38%.
According to the CEC, voter turnout by region as of 5:00 p.m. was as follows:
- Yerevan – 33.38%
- Aragatsotn – 34.99%
- Ararat – 32.81%
- Armavir – 30.39%
- Gegharkunik – 32.29%
- Lori – 34.96%
- Kotayk – 35.95%
- Shirak – 31.57%
- Syunik – 39.02%
- Vayots Dzor – 37.81%
- Tavush – 38.87%
Syunik recorded the highest turnout nationwide at 39.02%, closely followed by Tavush with 38.87% and Vayots Dzor with 37.81%. Among the more populous regions, Kotayk posted a relatively high participation rate of 35.95%.
The lowest turnout was registered in Armavir, where 30.39% of eligible voters had cast their ballots by late afternoon, while Shirak recorded 31.57%.
Polling stations across Armenia remain open until 8:00 p.m. local time, when voting will conclude and ballot counting will begin.
Armenians are electing a new National Assembly in the country’s ninth parliamentary elections, with 18 political forces competing for seats in the legislature.
