Nearly half of Armenia’s eligible voters had cast their ballots by 5:00 p.m. in the country’s parliamentary elections, according to the latest figures released by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
The highest voter turnout was recorded in Syunik Province, where 55.36% of eligible voters participated in the election. Vayots Dzor and Tavush also reported strong turnout levels, with 54.15% and 53.27%, respectively.
According to the CEC, voter turnout by region as of 5:00 p.m. was as follows:
- Yerevan – 48.52%
- Aragatsotn – 51.13%
- Ararat – 48.43%
- Armavir – 44.80%
- Gegharkunik – 46.86%
- Lori – 49.77%
- Kotayk – 51.01%
- Shirak – 46.23%
- Syunik – 55.36%
- Vayots Dzor – 54.15%
- Tavush – 53.27%
Alongside Syunik, the provinces of Aragatsotn and Kotayk also surpassed the 50% mark, recording turnout rates of 51.13% and 51.01%, respectively.
The lowest participation rate was reported in Armavir, where 44.80% of eligible voters had voted by late afternoon. Shirak and Gegharkunik followed with turnout rates of 46.23% and 46.86%.
In the capital, Yerevan, voter turnout stood at 48.52%, slightly below the national leaders but still approaching the halfway mark.
Polling stations across Armenia remain open until 8:00 p.m. local time, after which vote counting will begin.
