
European Council President António Costa has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the results of Armenia’s parliamentary elections, praising the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and international cooperation.
In a statement posted on social media, Costa said the Armenian people had voted for “a future built on peace, stability and stronger cooperation with their neighbours and the world.”
Congratulating Pashinyan on the election outcome, the European Council president commended his leadership and contribution to Armenia’s development.
“You can be proud of your role in strengthening Armenia’s resilience, stability and prosperity,” Costa wrote.
The EU official also highlighted the growing partnership between the European Union and Armenia, noting progress in a number of key areas.
“Together, the EU and Armenia are building stronger links between people and creating new opportunities in energy, trade, and digitalization,” he said.
Costa described the deepening relationship between Brussels and Yerevan as an investment in a more peaceful and prosperous future for the wider region.
According to preliminary results released by Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission, the ruling Civil Contract Party secured 49.81% of the vote in the June 7 parliamentary elections, retaining its parliamentary majority. The Strong Armenia Alliance came second with 23.29%, followed by the Armenia Alliance with 9.94%. The Prosperous Armenia Party also crossed the electoral threshold with 4%. The new National Assembly will comprise 105 seats, with four political forces represented in parliament
