Pashinyan says election result is a vote for peace, regional cooperation

Armenian Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Civil Contract party, Nikol Pashinyan, said the outcome of the parliamentary elections reflects the Armenian people’s support for peace, regional prosperity and cooperation in the South Caucasus.

Responding to a question from Turkish media during a post-election press conference, Pashinyan expressed hope that the election result would be met with a positive response from neighboring Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

“The people of Armenia voted for peace, regional prosperity and regional cooperation. I hope this choice will be met with positive reactions from Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” he said.

Pashinyan stressed the need to move beyond dialogue and institutionalize relations with Türkiye.

“We need to institutionalize our relations. Türkiye needs to open the border, and we need to establish diplomatic relations,” he said.

The prime minister noted that Armenian-Turkish relations have shown positive momentum in recent years but argued that the process should now advance toward concrete outcomes.

“There is a good dynamic in relations with Türkiye, but that dynamic should grow into the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of borders,” Pashinyan said.

He also highlighted the importance of the TRIPP project, describing it as a transformative initiative for the region.

“The TRIPP project should start as soon as possible because it is a game-changing project,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, the initiative would help overcome long-standing regional blockades and unlock new opportunities for economic development and connectivity.

“The blockade of the region will be overcome, and the region will transform from a deadlock into a crossroads,” the prime minister said.
