The future parliamentary representation of the Prosperous Armenia Party remains uncertain after Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) released preliminary results from the country’s parliamentary elections.
CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan announced that Prosperous Armenia received 58,388 votes, or 3.996% of the total vote, based on results from all 2,005 polling stations.
The figure places the party just below the 4% threshold required for political parties to enter parliament, raising questions about whether it will secure representation in the next National Assembly.
The issue has drawn particular attention because the CEC’s online results system had earlier displayed Prosperous Armenia’s support at 4%, suggesting the party had crossed the electoral threshold. However, Hovakimyan clarified that the online system rounds percentages, while the official calculations are based on more precise figures.
He also noted that the results currently published on the CEC website do not include electronic voting data and remain subject to verification and possible recounts.
“In this situation, a single vote may be decisive for a political force that is very close to the electoral threshold,” Hovakimyan said, emphasizing that the figures remain preliminary and could still change during the certification process.
According to Hovakimyan, a total of 1,477,736 citizens participated in the vote. Based on the preliminary protocol, the leading political forces received the following results:
- Civil Contract Party – 727,160 votes (49.81%)
- Strong Armenia Alliance – 340,088 votes (23.28%)
- Armenia Alliance – 145,113 votes (9.93%)
- Prosperous Armenia Party – 58,388 votes (3.996%)
