Macron congratulates Pashinyan on parliamentary election victory

French President Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the ruling Civil Contract party in Armenia’s parliamentary elections.

In a message published on social media, Macron described the outcome as a “resounding victory” and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Armenian leader.

The French president said he looks forward to continuing close cooperation with Pashinyan to further strengthen ties between France and Armenia. Macron emphasized the importance of working together in the interests of both nations, supporting peace and Armenia’s sovereignty, and advancing the ongoing rapprochement between Armenia and Europe.

“I am delighted to continue working alongside you to further strengthen our cooperation in service of our peoples, to support peace and Armenia’s sovereignty, and to bolster the momentum of rapprochement with Europe,” Macron wrote.

According to preliminary results released by Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission, the ruling Civil Contract Party secured 49.81% of the vote in the June 7 parliamentary elections, retaining its parliamentary majority. The Strong Armenia Alliance came second with 23.29%, followed by the Armenia Alliance with 9.94%. The Prosperous Armenia Party also crossed the electoral threshold with 4%.
