Armenia showcases military equipment during Republic Day parade

Armenia presented military equipment and weaponry produced by seven countries during a festive military parade dedicated to Republic Day at Republic Square in Yerevan.

Addressing the parade, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the Armenian army appears at the parade with new weapons, uniforms, and an updated military ideology centered on the defense of Armenia’s internationally recognized sovereign territory.

“The core of this ideology is the following: the army’s only mission is the protection of the internationally recognized sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and our army should not be used outside Armenia’s internationally recognized territory, except for peacekeeping missions carried out on the basis of international agreements,” Pashinyan said.

The prime minister stated that the international arms market became accessible to Armenia following agreements reached in Prague in 2022, when Armenia and Azerbaijan recognized each other’s territorial integrity based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.

Pashinyan also revealed that since 2022, the Armenian government has invested around 170 billion drams in the country’s military-industrial complex as part of broader defense reforms and modernization efforts.

The Republic Day parade featured newly acquired military hardware and units of the Armenian Armed Forces marching through Republic Square as the country marked the anniversary of the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia in 1918.
