A meeting-discussion was held with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the Royal Institute of International Relations in London (Chatham House).
A wide range of issues were discussed, both related to Armenia-UK relations and regional developments.
Minister Mirzoyan thoroughly addressed Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, the latest regional developments, as well as a number of issues related to Armenia’s involvement in international platforms.
The Foreign Minister briefed the attendees on the position of the Republic of Armenia regarding the establishment of stability and security in the South Caucasus, the normalization of relations with neighbors, as well as the opportunities offered by the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
Speaking about the process of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to the peace agenda, Minister Mirzoyan noted that the approaches of the Armenian side are mainly expressed in the principles recorded in the quadrilateral declaration adopted in Granada. The minister emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s unconditional commitment to continue the peace process based on these principles and the strong support of international partners.
Reference was made to the situation created as a result of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, issues related to addressing the primary needs and rights of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenians.
At the end of the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan had a short conversation with the director of the institute, Bronwen Maddox.
