Germany has reaffirmed its support for the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process in a joint declaration on a strategic bilateral partnership signed with Azerbaijan.
The declaration welcomes what it describes as the “historic momentum” in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, highlighting the outcomes of the August 8, 2025 Washington Summit and the subsequent steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan toward the normalization of relations.
“The Federal Republic of Germany reiterates its full support for the efforts of the two countries aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the region,” the declaration states.
The document, adopted as part of a broader strategic agenda between Germany and Azerbaijan, also reaffirms the parties’ commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, the European Convention on Human Rights and other international legal instruments promoting peace and security.
