The first sitting of Armenia’s newly elected National Assembly, formed following the parliamentary elections held on June 7, will take place on August 2 at 10:00 a.m., Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan announced.
In a statement, Hovakimyan said the date had been set in accordance with Article 100(1) of Armenia’s Electoral Code and Article 32(1) of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure. Under the legislation, the first session of a newly elected parliament following regular elections is convened on the day the previous parliament’s term expires.
On July 21, the Central Electoral Commission signed the protocols allocating parliamentary mandates to the political forces that secured seats in the June 7 elections.
According to the final distribution, the Civil Contract Party received 64 seats, the Strong Armenia Alliance was allocated 29 seats, and the Armenia Alliance secured 12 seats in the new National Assembly.
