The Armenian Government will provide around 52 million AMD (about $14 million) to cover the costs of opening an Embassy in Muscat, Oman. The decision was approved at the government sitting today.
The major part of the sum will be allocated from the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the rest from the Government’s reserve fund.
According to the government, the opening of the Embassy will contribute to the strengthening of the warm political dialogue, trade and economic ties between Armenia and Oman, the increase in tourist flows, mutual trade turnover, including transit. It will contribute to the growth of mutual recognition between the citizens and societies of the two countries, and will serve as an impetus for the strengthening of ties between Armenia and a number of countries in East Africa and the Indian Ocean, based on the historical and cultural ties between these countries and Oman.
“Our network of embassies around the world is expanding, which is important from the point of view of implementing our balanced and balancing foreign policy,” PM Nikol Pashinyan said.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reminded that Armenia has already opened an embassy in Cyprus and will open one in Budapest, Hungary, within the next 1-2 months.
Nikol Pashinyan also noted that the number of foreign embassies in Armenia is growing, which is also very important in terms of increasing the country’s international visibility.
