The Aga Khan Emerald, an extremely rare 37 carats emerald and diamonds brooch could fetch up to $8 mln at Christie’s auction next week in Geneva, Reuters reports.
The brooch was a gift from Prince Aga Khan to his bride Nina Dyer in 1960. She took her life 5 years later and in 1969, the now chairman for Christie’s Europe François Curiel witnessed its sale at Christie’s to Van Cleef & Arpels.
“We lost its track until March 2024 when a collector brought it to us and here it is, in the box. At the time, it was sold 600,000 CHF, today it is estimated at $6 million (estimate between $6 million and $8 million),” he said.
For the second time in 55 years, the Aga Khan Emerald will go under the hammer on Tuesday (November 12) at Christies Magnificent Jewels sale.
Christies is also offering the Maharaja Necklace, a transformable jewel which can be worn as one or 7 necklaces, estimated between $5 million and $6 million and a Cartier diamond necklace from the Sassoon Family Collection which could sale for $1.5 million.
