HayPost has issued a new commemorative postage stamp honoring legendary Armenian footballer and coach Nikita Simonyan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
The stamp, released on July 22, is part of the “Sport. Armenian Famous Footballers” series and has a face value of 380 drams.
It features Nikita (Mkrtich) Simonyan (1926–2025) against the backdrop of a photograph of the iconic Ararat football team. The design also includes the inscriptions “100th Anniversary” and “Nikita (Mkrtich) Simonyan” in both Armenian and English.
The stamp was designed by Vahagn Mkrtchyan and printed by bpost Philately & Stamps Printing in Belgium.
The square-format stamp measures 40 x 40 mm. Each sheet contains eight stamps, with a total print run of 10,000 copies.
Nikita Simonyan is widely regarded as one of the greatest figures in the history of Armenian and Soviet football, enjoying a distinguished career both as a player and later as a coach.
