Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Canada were held in Ottawa on July 21.
The consultations were led by Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Canada’s Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandre Lévêque.
The sides commended the current level of steadily developing bilateral relations, noting that the visit to Armenia by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s delegation to attend the 8th Summit of the European Political Community had provided fresh momentum to ties between the two countries. They underscored the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts.
The officials discussed a broad range of issues related to advancing the Armenia–Canada bilateral agenda and reviewed cooperation within international organizations. Both sides emphasized the need to further strengthen political relations by expanding economic cooperation and promoting investment in areas of mutual interest.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan also briefed his Canadian counterpart on regional developments and Armenia’s efforts to further consolidate peace in the South Caucasus.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on international developments.
