
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Armenian people following the country’s parliamentary elections, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of democracy and peace.
In a message posted on social media, Merz said Armenians had made their choice despite facing significant pressure.
“Congratulations to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Armenian people. Despite enormous pressure, the people of Armenia have clearly chosen democracy and peace,” the German chancellor wrote.
Merz also expressed his readiness to further strengthen Germany’s ties with Armenia and deepen cooperation within the broader European framework.
“I look forward to further deepening our bilateral and European cooperation with Armenia,” he added.
