Armenia reaffirms commitment to EAEU cooperation at Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Meeting

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held in Astana, where he reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Addressing the gathering, Grigoryan thanked Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the hospitality and the high-level organization of the event. He noted that the first meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in 2026 was taking place on the symbolic occasion of EAEU Day and expressed confidence in the further development of Eurasian integration for the benefit of member states and their citizens.

The deputy prime minister reiterated Armenia’s commitment to strengthening economic stability and sustainable development through cooperation within the EAEU framework. He emphasized that Armenia intends to continue participating in the Union’s activities in good faith, guided by the principles of mutual respect, equal partnership, and consideration of the national interests of all member states.

Grigoryan highlighted the relevance of the Eurasian Economic Forum’s agenda, stressing that the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies are becoming key drivers of economic competitiveness and technological sovereignty across EAEU countries. He welcomed the joint declaration on the responsible development of artificial intelligence, describing it as an important step toward coordinated approaches and effective cooperation among member states in the field.

The deputy prime minister also underscored the importance of liberalizing trade in services as a major factor in deepening economic integration within the Union. At the same time, he noted that certain aspects of national regulations still require greater practical harmonization, which would enhance cooperation, improve the predictability and transparency of regulatory mechanisms, and create a more favorable business environment.

According to Grigoryan, diversifying trade and economic relations with third countries remains another key area of cooperation within the EAEU. He stressed the importance of fully implementing existing free trade agreements and advancing negotiations on new agreements.

He further noted that the diversification of transport links is one of the main factors that can significantly stimulate trade turnover across the region.

Armenia also attaches great importance to expanding cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, Grigoryan said, welcoming the signing of a protocol extending financial support mechanisms for cooperative projects in the field. He noted that the measure would contribute to stronger cooperation and enhance food security within the Union.

Concluding his remarks, Grigoryan thanked the participants for their constructive work and expressed hope for continued effective cooperation among EAEU member states.
