Trump announces “productive” talks with Iran, pauses potential strikes

Donald Trump has said the United States has held “very good and productive conversations” with Iran on a possible “complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the Middle East.

In a post published on Truth Social, Trump stated that discussions between the two sides had taken place over the past two days and would continue throughout the week.

Based on what he called the “tenor and tone” of the talks, Trump announced that he had ordered a temporary halt to potential US military action targeting Iranian infrastructure.

“I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period,” he wrote, adding that the pause would depend on the success of ongoing negotiations.

Trump characterized the discussions as “in depth, detailed, and constructive,” signaling cautious optimism about a diplomatic breakthrough.
