Qatar pauses production of liquefied natural gas after attacks

Qatar’s state-owned energy company, QatarEnergy, says it has halted the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) after Iranian attacks on some of its facilities, the BBC reports.

It says the attacked facilities were Ras Laffan – an onshore gas processing base – and Mesaieed – another key site for Qatar’s natural gas production.

The Gulf state is one of the world’s top liquefied natural gas producers, alongside the US, Australia and Russia.
