EU Ambassador briefs Armenian President on progress in visa liberalization process

President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia.

President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia-EU relations have been developing dynamically in recent years, encompassing new formats and areas of cooperation.

Vassilis Maragos expressed gratitude for the reception and reaffirmed his commitment to continue investing efforts in strengthening and expanding the EU-Armenia partnership.

During the meeting, a number of initiatives implemented with EU support were discussed. Views were exchanged on the potential for cooperation in energy, education, economic development and a number of other areas.

Vassilis Maragos also presented the positive developments in the visa liberalization process and highlighted the importance of consistent bilateral work in this direction.

The meeting also focused on the progress of the new EU-Armenia “Partnership Agenda”.

The Head of the EU Delegation also presented to the President the program of events dedicated to the upcoming Europe Day, emphasizing their inclusive nature and importance.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to reforms aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, as well as humanitarian and social assistance programs implemented with EU support.

The sides emphasized the need to further deepen Armenia-EU cooperation and jointly implement new initiatives.
