Armenia to host Georgia in UEFA Nations League playoffs

Armenia is set to host Georgia in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League promotion/relegation playoffs today, March 20, 2025, at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. The match kicks off at 9:00 PM (5:00 PM GMT) local time.

This playoff determines which team will compete in League B for the next Nations League cycle. Armenia secured their spot by finishing second in their group, clinching it with a crucial 2-1 victory over Latvia on the final matchday. Georgia, led by standout player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, finished third in a challenging group and now aims to retain their League B status.

Armenia has struggled recently, winning just three of their last 16 matches across all competitions since September 2023. In contrast, Georgia has shown resilience, notably reaching the Round of 16 in UEFA EURO 2024, where they defeated Portugal and took an early lead against Spain before exiting the tournament.

In their previous seven encounters, Georgia holds a slight advantage with three wins, while Armenia has secured two victories, and two matches have ended in draws.
