Gyumri-Moscow flight makes emergency landing in Makhachkala

A passenger aircraft operating a flight from Gyumri to Moscow made an emergency landing at an alternate airport in Makhachkala after declaring an emergency during the flight, TASS reports.

Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda said that flight DP-856, en route from Gyumri, Armenia, to Moscow, landed safely at Makhachkala Airport on June 22.

According to the airline, specialists are currently assessing the aircraft’s technical condition.

Earlier, data from the flight-tracking service Flightradar showed that the Boeing aircraft departed Gyumri at 11:24 Moscow time. Less than an hour into the flight, while over Russia’s Dagestan region, the aircraft transmitted a general emergency signal and descended to an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters.

The aircraft was subsequently diverted to Makhachkala, where it landed safely.

The flight had originally been scheduled to arrive in Moscow at 15:25 Moscow time.
