Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that, as of now, there is no information indicating that Armenian citizens are among the victims of the military actions that began around Iran on February 28.
According to MFA spokesperson Ani Badalyan, Armenian diplomatic missions and consular offices across the Middle East are operating in an emergency, round-the-clock regime. This includes missions in the United Arab Emirates (also covering Bahrain and Saudi Arabia), Kuwait (also covering Jordan), as well as Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Iran, and Israel.
The MFA noted that Armenian embassies are maintaining close coordination with major airlines, including FlyDubai, Air Arabia, and Qatar Airways, to obtain information on flight conditions, identify Armenian passengers, and assess possible next steps if needed. In some cases, airlines are offering rebooking options.
Authorities in Abu Dhabi have also announced their readiness to cover expenses for tourists whose stays have been involuntarily extended due to the situation. Armenia’s embassy in the UAE has issued additional guidance on this matter and remains in direct contact with a group of 92 Armenian students studying in the country, providing necessary consultation and instructions.
Embassies in Iran and Israel continue to function, though occasional communication disruptions have been reported in Iran. Armenian diplomats are also coordinating with international partners to facilitate potential evacuations through Armenian territory if required.
The MFA hotline received approximately 40 calls between February 28 and March 1 (as of 13:30), primarily concerning flight resumptions and evacuation options. The ministry stressed that, contrary to some reports circulating on social media, all calls have been answered.
Officials continue to verify and update data on the number of Armenian citizens in the affected countries.
The Ministry urged Armenian citizens in the region to follow official instructions issued by local authorities and Armenian diplomatic missions.
During a Security Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan earlier today, participants expressed deep regret over the developments, extended condolences to the victims, and emphasized the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
